Dental Implants Can Improve Your Oral Health & Quality of Life
Missing teeth can cause both aesthetic and oral health issues. Dental implants are an advanced treatment for missing teeth that can help restore full form and function to your smile while improving your jawbone health. Dental implants can provide a more permanent and stable solution to replace one or all of your teeth. Dr. Michael E. Corsello offers customized, state-of-the-art dental implants treatment at his Pittsburgh, PA, office. He provides lifelike restorations and innovative options such as the Snaptite Smile® system to meet every patient's unique needs.
What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are made of titanium and are surgically placed in your jaw to act as artificial tooth roots. These specialized posts fuse with your jawbone through a process called osseointegration. During this process, the posts can become permanently bonded with your jaw, enabling them to last the rest of your life and provide unrivaled stability for dental restorations. You may require just one implant for a crown or multiple implants to hold implant-supported bridges and full-arch restorations such as the Snaptite Smile®. Dental implants improve your overall oral health by acting as your natural teeth and roots, which signal your body to send essential nutrients to your jawbone, maintaining bone levels and density.
Expected Treatment Procedure
During your initial consultation, Dr. Corsello will evaluate your overall oral health with precise x-rays and computerized tomography (CT) scans. He will review your dental and health records and discuss your expectations and make the best recommendation for your needs. If there are signs of gum disease or another condition present, you may require preliminary treatments before you can have your implants placed. In addition, if you do not have sufficient bone density or room, you may require a preparatory procedure such as a bone graft or sinus lift to qualify for treatment. If you require any preliminary treatment, you can receive convenient care with Northland Dental Medicine because Dr. Corsello provides all stages of dental implants treatment conveniently under one roof.
Once you are ready to receive your dental implants, you will come to our office for your surgery and our team will administer appropriate anesthesia for your procedure. Once you are comfortable, Dr. Corsello will create room for your dental implants before placing them, using highly accurate scans to place the implants in the strongest areas of your jawbone. He may also use advanced platelet-rich plasma (PRP) additives to stimulate bone growth and improve healing. During the next three to six months, you will recover from your procedure, allowing your jawbone and implants to fuse. You may receive a temporary crown or denture to wear during your recovery. Once you have completely healed, you will be fitted with a custom-made restoration, which will be attached to your implants. In some cases, Dr. Corsello can provide mini implants and a Snaptite Smile® bridge, allowing you to receive your implants and restoration during the same appointment.
Northland Dental Medicine can help you improve your oral health and quality of life with personalized, state-of-the-art treatment.
Benefits of Treatment
When you undergo treatment with implants, your restorations can provide an enhanced level of comfort and confidence because they will not slip out of place while eating or speaking. The implant posts fuse with your jawbone, creating a permanent, superiorly stable foundation for your restorations. Dental implants can also improve your overall dental health, preventing jawbone recession and further tooth loss. In addition, Dr. Corsello has pioneered the advanced Snaptite Smile® system, providing superior benefits to traditional dentures and a less-invasive, removable option for implant-supported restorations. With advanced Snaptite Smile® treatment, you can remove your restoration yourself, eliminating difficult cleaning or adjustment processes associated with traditional implant-supported restorations.
